📝 Abstract
Multiple penetrating thoracoabdominal injuries by falling are uncommon and are associated with a high mortality. A 60-year-old male was impaled through the chest, and abdomen by two 2.5 cm diameter steel rods, each 2 m in length, by falling from 5 meters high. The first rod entered from the dorsal part of chest and out from the left neck without no damage to the left lung, the second through left sacral region and out from the left hypochondrium, and caused perforations of peritoneum, jejunum, mesostenium at 3 places. The steel rods were cut short by the electric saw at the scene of the accident, and then he was transported to the hospital with the rods in situ. This paper provides insight as to how these unusual injuries were managed successfully by rapid pre-hospital transfer, along with an adequate hospital multidisciplinary collaboration.
