Manuscript Preparation & Submission Requirements

Manuscript Preparation

General Requirements

  • Manuscripts should be written in clear, concise English
  • Use Times New Roman, 12pt font with 1.5 line spacing
  • All pages should be numbered consecutively
  • Typical article length: 5,000-10,000 words (including references)
  • Submit in PDF format for initial review

Title Page

The title page should include:

  • Full title of the manuscript
  • Author name(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Corresponding author's email address
  • Word count

Abstract & Keywords

  • Abstract: 150-300 words summarizing the main argument and conclusions
  • Keywords: 3-6 keywords for indexing purposes

Structure

While structure may vary by discipline, typical articles should include:

  1. Introduction: Background, context, and thesis statement
  2. Main Body: Development of argument with clear section headings
  3. Conclusion: Summary of findings and implications
  4. References: Complete bibliography

Citations & References

Cithara accepts manuscripts using either:

  • Chicago Manual of Style (preferred for humanities)
  • MLA Style
  • APA Style (for social science submissions)

Please maintain consistency throughout your manuscript.

⚠️ Important: All sources must be properly cited. Plagiarism will result in immediate rejection.

Final Version Requirements

After acceptance, authors must submit a final version with:

  • Margins: 3.5 cm on all sides (top, bottom, left, right)
  • No page numbers in the final PDF (these will be added by the journal)
  • No headers or footers
  • PDF format (do not compress or password-protect)
  • Maximum file size: 7MB

Submission Process

  1. Submit Online: Use our submission form to upload your manuscript
  2. Receive Confirmation: You'll receive login credentials via email
  3. Peer Review: Your paper undergoes rigorous peer review (7-21 days)
  4. Decision: You'll receive the review decision with detailed feedback
  5. Revision (if needed): Address reviewer comments
  6. Final Acceptance: Submit your final formatted version
  7. Publication: Your paper is published with DOI
