📝 Abstract

Despite the progress of dendrochronology, few studies have examined details about how the sensitivity of radial growth of Pinus cooperi may vary with tree ring index (TRI). We did an assessment of tree ring response to the climatic sensitivity using three dendrochronological series (TRI) of Pinus cooperi in Mexico Northern: Standard (Sd), Residual (Rd), and Arstan (Ar). Multiple linear regression were used to associate TRI with historical data of precipitation and temperature. The regression analyses reported differences in sensitivity of TRI to climatic variables. We concluded that knowledge of the implications of using different TRI can provide greater support information for designing better management strategies, particularly regarding the interpretation of the sensitivity of forest species to climate changes. Also, different TRI should not be considered as substitutes for each other; complementing them with other tools would improve the analysis capacity.
