📝 Abstract

The research pursues the development of new knowledge in the field of new exploitation of the post-operated industrial buildings in the JIU Valley by redesigning them into tourist attractions. The industrial tourism is very little developed in Romania and in the Coal basin of Petrosani industrial tourism is not found in any of its forms. \nThe JIU Valley micro-region area presents a natural and anthropic touristic potential, which is diversified, but its true value is not exploited to the fullest. There is this trend of decreasing interest in the classical - conventional tourism due to the lack of a factor that could achieve an interconnection of the tourism forms and types present in the JIU Valley. \nIt is estimated that the factor that will determine the economic and social development of the area and will ensure complementarity of the forms of tourism within the basin is the industrial tourism resulting from the new exploitation of the industrial buildings post-operation
