πŸ“ Abstract

Drinking water is used for different purposes. The rising population, industrial units, hotels, garages, theaters, hospitals, educational institutions demand more water. The use of water for different purposes generates ample sewage in each municipal corporation in Maharashtra. The nature of sewage is different from household units and industry. The used water is left to drainage by each unit without proper treatment. The sewage collection and treatment facility is inadequate in each municipal corporation. Such polluted water is affecting on marine resources, river eco system and health of people. The children’s are more affected due to water washed and water borne diseases. The least square regression result shows that the growth of sewage is positively co-related with population, health care institutions, industry and garages in different municipal corporations in Maharashtra. There is immediate need to collect, treatment and reuse of waste water in each municipal corporation. It can reduce the water stress and new investment in water supply projects. The central government should give grant to each municipal corporation for sewage treatment. Each municipal corporation must issue debt instruments to raise finance for complete sewage collection and treatment. Public awareness of environment and water use restrictions will help to reduce sewage in each municipal corporation in Maharashtra.
