📝 Abstract
Abstract: This paper introduces the disadvantages of original tool lacing design in chain cutters by\nmachine manufacturers in terms of detailed cutting performance. Cutting conditions of tools (relief\ncutting or groove deepening) and cutting areas swept were observed in detail by using breakout\npatterns drawn by Auto-CAD. The Matlab program was used because of the cutting conditions of tools,\nand cutting forces and torque were calculated according to the cutting area swept by tools. Computer\nanalysis showed that tool lacing with efficient assistance between the neighbouring tools in the same\nsequence and tools in the consecutive sequences is more advantageous in terms of cutting forces,\ntorque and vibration. The importance of considering tools\' cutting conditions during the design of tool\nlacing was emphasised.
