πŸ“ Abstract

Trichosanthes dioica Roxb. (Cucurbitaceae), commonly called Patola in Sanskrit, \nAccording to Ayurvedic medicinal system it is as a strong purgative, febrifuge, in treatment of \njaundice and diabetes. The present study is aimed to screen laxative activity of Patola to provide \nsupport for its traditional claim. Aqueous extract of Patola was screened for laxative activity at \ndose 100 and 200 mg/kg, orally. Patola showed significant (p<0.01) laxative activity at both \ndoses respectively.
