📝 Abstract
Objectives. The present study analyses the smoking related behaviour in medical students versus smoking students from non-medical universities. Methods. Analytical observational questionnaire based study which included 82 students from medical school and 173 students from non-medical universities. We have assessed: the moments and reasons for initiating smoking, the existence of previous attempts to quit smoking. Results. Although the level of knowledge regarding the noxious effects of smoking was significantly higher in in medical students (p<0.05), there is no statistically significant difference between the two groups regarding the quantitative interpretation of the habit. Conclusion. Although medical students have vaster knowledge regarding the negative effects of smoking, this habit inexplicably continues to have a high prevalence in this group.
