Job satisfaction is essential for recruiting librarians and their retentions in their jobs. This study examines job satisfaction of librarians employed as academic librarians in higher education sector of Coimbatore district, Tamilnadu, India. The article attempts to bring out the various elements of job satisfaction such as collection, nature of service, decision making in their work, challenges in their jobs and their salary, which influence the job satisfaction and job dissatisfaction. The factors which could influence the librarians to feel proud about their job and to retain with their profession are to be considered. This study concludes that most of the respondents are satisfied with their job but many improvements are to be carried out regarding job satisfaction.
