๐ Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the short-term clinical outcomes of single incision laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (SI-LAGB) compared with conventional multiport laparoscopic gastric band (C-LAGB). \nMethods: A literature search was performed to identify and compare studies that reported the clinical outcomes of both SI-LAGB and C-LAGB. Meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager version 4.2.9 software. Pooled odds ratios (OR) and weighted mean differences (WMD) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were calculated using either ๏ฌxed-effects or random-effects models.\nResults: Seven non-randomized studies involving 1683 patients met the prede๏ฌned inclusion criteria. Compared with C-LAGB, reports on SI-LAGB indicate potentially favorable outcomes in terms of the percent of excess weight loss (EWL%) in 1 year (WMD: 4.51; 95% CI: 2.64 to 6.38; P < .00001), There was no signi๏ฌcant difference between the two groups in operating time, intraoperative blood loss, perioperative complication and postoperative hospital stay. \nConclusion: SI-LAGB is a technically realistic and reliable approach with short-term results similar to those obtained with the C-LAGB procedure.
